WHAT IS THE WILD WEST RELAY?

The Wild West Relay is a 195-mile team relay race in Colorado designed for runners of all abilities scheduled around the full moon each August

The relay begins by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, Colorado, and finishes in the beautiful ski and summer resort town of Steamboat Springs. Much of this very scenic and remote course runs through National Forests or along dirt roads. The route winds through Roosevelt, Medicine Bow, and Routt National Forests, and through small, mountain and ranching communities.

WHO WILL BE THERE?

This exciting event will bring together fitness and health enthusiasts of all levels from the Rocky Mountain Region, as well as other parts of the country. Our expected turnout is over 1700 runners and volunteers. Friends, family, and local spectators will also be at the starting and finish lines, cheering the racers on.

GREAT AUDIENCE

Fitness and health enthusiasts fall into a very desirable demographic! According to statistics, relay participants range from their early-twenties to 50's. Eighty-eight percent of these runners have a yearly income above $26K, with sixty-two percent greater than $55K. Running ranked the highest in their sports and outdoor activities, with cycling, camping, hiking, and ski sports also ranking above 50% in their interests. Health and fitness enthusiasts spend millions of dollars on sports activities, apparel, equipment and many other consumer products.

GETTING THE WORD OUT...

We are affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America, a national running organization. To promote this event, an extensive web and print ad campaign will be launched. We will be sending emails to over 4000 interested runners and to over 300 National running clubs and organizations with a link to this web site. Additionally, the Wild West Relay is listed on the event calendars of over three dozen running-related web sites. We will be displaying ads in national and regional magazines. Also, we will be distributing informational flyers at running stores, health clubs, race expos, and other running events in Colorado and Wyoming.
