Location: The running track located to the right of the school building of the Steamboat Springs Middle School.
Directions:
From US 40: US 40 in Steamboat Springs becomes Lincoln Ave. Turn right on 3rd St. to the "T" intersection with Maple St. Turn right on Maple St. Follow Maple St. for .4 miles to the "T" intersection with Amethyst Dr. Turn left on Amethyst Dr. Go approximately .6 miles to the Steamboat Springs Middle School on your left. Enter and park in the parking lot. The relay finishes on the Middle School track which is on the south end of the school.
Volunteer Parking: Anywhere in the parking lot.
Unique to this Exchange:
The first shift of volunteers help set up the finish line. Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
The second shift of volunteers are also responsible for helping break down the finish line and load it into our trucks. Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
Staffing:
Spotters - 3; will be positioned at three different locations with 2-way radios to announce the bib numbers of the approaching runners to announce their arrival at the Finish Line. Highly recommended that the volunteers bring a chair and an umbrella for shade. Spotter 1 is located at the entrance to Shehley Park and will also direct runners up the Butcherknife Trail. Spotter 1's announcement should be "Bib # X departing checkpoint 1." Spotter 2 is located on the Butcherknife Trial at the fork, makes sure runner goes in the correct direction. Spotter 2's announcement should be "Bib # X departing checkpoint 2." Spotter 3's location is at the entrance to the track and annoucement should be "Bib # X on the track."
Camping Monitor - monitors the trash and recycle bags making sure they don't overflow and replaces bags as necessary; also maintains the water and Cytomax jugs keeping them supplied.
Meal Checker - will distribute meal tickets to the teams
Finisher Award Checker - will distribute finisher awards ONLY after team has turned in their time sheet
Exchange Notes:
Volunteers will assist in the tear down and pakcing of the finish line after last runner has arrived.. Must be able to lift 35 pounds. All volunteers will let staff know if they see anyone drinking alcohol on the school grounds
