NONCOMPETIVE 12-PERSON OR ULTRA TEAMS
Helter Skelter - this category is for ALL 12-person teams that plan to be non-competitive, meaning you won't be running in the standard runner 1 through 12 order. No 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards will be given for this category.
6x6 Helter Skelter - this category is for ALL 6x6 teams that plan to be non-competitive, meaning you won't be running in the standard runner 1 through 6 order. No 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards will be given for this category.
COMPETITIVE 12 PERSON TEAMS (7 - 12 runners)
- Open (any combination of men and women)
- Masters - an Open team with all members reaching the age of 40 this calendar year; a photocopy of each runner’s drivers license will be required to be submitted at the Start)
- Flatlander's - an Open team with all members living below 2500 feet sea level; a photocopy of each runner’s drivers license with a current address will be required to be submitted at the Start)
- High School - an open team where all team members are middle or high school Graduating the year of the race is ok.
COMPETITIVE ULTRA TEAMS (4 - 6 runners)
- 6 x 1 - each runner runs one leg averaging 32.5 miles
- 6 x 6 - each runner runs 6 legs in rotation just like the 12-person teams
- Men's 6 x 6 - each runner runs 6 legs in rotation just like the 12-person teams
- Women's 6 x 6 - an all women's team where each runner runs 6 legs in rotation just like the 12-person teams
- Mixed 6 x 6 - a minimum of three women on the team where each runner runs 6 legs in rotation just like the 12-person teams
- Open 6 x 6 - any combination of men and women on the team where each runner runs 6 legs in rotation just like the 12-person team
- Flatlander's - an Open team with all members living below 2500 feet sea level; a photocopy of each runner’s drivers license with a current address will be required to be submitted at the Star
- Masters 6x6 - an Open team with all members reaching the age of 40 this calendar year; a photocopy of each runner’s drivers license will be required to be submitted at the Start)
Super - Ultra - individuals who would like to run the relay solo, or in 2 or 3-person team. In order for these teams to start at the earliest scheduled wave of 5:00 AM, they must maintain an average pace of 10:30/mile. Otherwise, these teams will need to start at such a time as they'll reach the finish by 4:30 PM on Saturday. Super Ultra teams can decide on their own how legs will be distributed with-in the team. Runners must understand directional signs and portable toilets may not be in place for them except during normal race hours. Race cut-off time is 5:00 PM on Saturday. Runners not to the finish by that time continue on their own. A support crew with vehicles is required.
